Background

Kris joined Heacox Hartman as an Associate Attorney in 2026. His practice focuses on defending self-insured and insured employers, as well as insurance companies, in all aspects of workers' compensation litigation throughout Minnesota.

Kris earned his J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in 2025 and was admitted to the Minnesota Bar that same year. He received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University.

Before attending law school, Kris spent ten years managing OSHA and EPA compliance for Fortune 100 companies. During that time, he also managed workers' compensation claims, giving him firsthand insight into the claims process and the practical challenges employers face. This experience provides him with a unique perspective on workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and workers' compensation matters that he brings to his legal practice.

While in law school, Kris worked in the Religious Liberties Appellate Clinic, where he drafted amicus briefs supporting a diverse range of plaintiffs before the Minnesota Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court.

Outside the office, Kris enjoys traveling with his wife, exploring national parks, hiking with his dog, Stella, and golfing.
